Pattar Theyyam

100 of years back in one family, one lady was married a Pattar (Pattar means Brahmin) and after few days, he was gone to out of station (far away from the village) for business purpose. Awaiting him so many years, the senior member of the family (Senior Uncle: at that time uncle have more responsibility and importants in families instead of father. All of them are taking care about their sister and kids more than care about their wife and kids) taken a decision for a remarriage for the lady for making sustain the family in future. Finally the lady was remarried forcefully for the sake of the family.

After so many years Pattar returned to wife house. He was so shocked and disappointed to see that his wife was married… Finally he was done suicide near to that house in a Banyan tree (Arayal Maram) This tree is still there at the so called Arayil Chuvatta Tharavadu, Annur, Payyanur (Kanur Dt, Kerala, India) Future one ‘Theyyam’ was formed in the name of Pattar. It was the story behind this Theyyam.
